Webinar 3: Grant funding for agriculture and food systems projects, inclusive of waste-to-value projects in this sector, prioritising coal-affected communities

Agriculture and food systems projects are central to a just transition. They have the capacity to support economic diversification and new livelihood opportunities, especially in communities that currently depend on the coal value chain.

Webinar 3 of the Just Energy Transition (JET) Funding Platform Webinar Series will help applicants prepare and submit a strong Expression of Interest for the fourth funding window of the JET Funding Platform. We will cover what makes a fundable, implementation-ready project, who can apply and what assessors look for.

This webinar is free and open to all, and will be most relevant to:

Community-based organisations (CBOs)
Non-governmental organisations (NGOs)
Cooperatives
Small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs)
Community trusts
Agripreneurs, smallholder and emerging farmers, applying through a registered entity
Agricultural enterprises incorporating a waste-to-value component, such as composting or biogas

We especially encourage organisations that provide meaningful roles and benefits for women and youth in coal-affected areas, and/or work with former mineworkers. While the webinar focuses on Mpumalanga, participants from all provinces are welcome. Government, development agencies, farmer organisations and grant funders are also encouraged to attend and share this page with their networks.

About Window 4

The JET Funding Platform matches credible projects with grant funders. Window 4 is a call for projects in agriculture and food systems, inclusive of waste-to-value projects in this sector. Applications start with an Expression of Interest (EOI), which is open from 5 October to 5 November 2026. All applicants must apply as a registered legal entity that is tax compliant with the South African Revenue Service (SARS). Individuals cannot apply in their own name.
