Tshikululu is South Africa’s leading social impact advisory, fund manager and strategic integrator. We work across social investment levers from Corporate Social Investment (CSI) to Enterprise & Supplier Development (ESD) and Socio-Economic Development (SED) to design

All of our operations are underpinned by an integrated approach. As strategic integrators we bring together fragmented programmes, aligninging your social investment levers, from CSI to ESD, SED and ESG, to a single unified purpose.
This holistic approach includes strategic design, operationalisation, implementation, and monitoring & evaluation. The result is a strategy where every initiative reinforces the next, progress is tracked across levers with shared KPIs, and impact that lasts beyond a single funding cycle.
A single, structured approach that brings clarity, consistency, and direction to your entire social investment strategy.
Connect CSI, ESD, SED, EV, and BBOS into one coordinated system where each initiative reinforces the next.
Unlock compounded results by reducing duplication, aligning spend, and turning fragmented efforts into measurable, lasting change.
We collaborate with leaders across industries, from mining, to media and creative arts, driving impact where it matters most. Read more about our partnerships below.
We are proud to be part of Jozi My Jozi, an ambitious initiative focused on revitalising the Johannesburg CBD. This partnership brings together some of South Africa’s most respected organisations, including Standard Bank Group, FNB South Africa, Absa Group, Nedbank, Nando’s South Africa, Anglo American, IQbusiness, and others, to tackle systemic challenges in the city.
Through Jozi My Jozi, Tshikululu is contributing to projects that:
This initiative reflects our core belief that collaboration between business, government, and civil society is essential to unlock large-scale transformation.
Another large-scale effort that Tshikululu has played a key role in is South Africa’s Just Energy Transition (JET), a Presidency-led initiative to shift the country’s energy system from coal dependency to cleaner, renewable energy sources. This transition is designed to be inclusive, equitable, and socially responsible, minimising negative impacts on workers and communities.
In 2024, Tshikululu provided technical support to the JET Funding Platform, a national mechanism designed to register projects and connect them with funders. This platform creates opportunities for funding partnerships that align with JET goals. Already, two successful rounds of matching have been completed, bridging the gap between donors and projects and ensuring that South Africa’s energy transition is both sustainable and socially just.
Tshikululu is the administrator of the Digital News Transformation (DNT) Fund, a R114-million initiative funded by Google and launched in partnership with the Association of Independent Publishers (AIP). This groundbreaking fund supports South Africa’s small, local, and independent news publishers to strengthen their digital transformation and sustainability. By mobilising an entire sector, the fund demonstrates how social investment can create systemic change.
Investing in journalism is more than supporting media, it is an investment in democratic participation, helping to reduce inequality and enhance inclusion.
Our work spans core areas that drive social and economic progress in South Africa. These intersecting development sectors guide how we design and implement social investments programmes across the country. Our integrated approach ensures that every programme is targeted, impactful, and sustainable.
Quality education is the most powerful driver of systemic change. We invest across the full pipeline, from early childhood development and teacher training to digital skills development and bursaries.
Quality healthcare is foundational to societal wellbeing. We aim to strengthen healthcare capacity, develop a skilled workforce, and improve prevention, early detection, and continuity of care.
Community development initiatives drive measurable social impact: protecting vulnerable populations, strengthening public service delivery, and building resilient civil society. Our approach targets some of South Africa’s most pressing challenges from rising inequality to gender based violence and femicide.
Meaningful economic participation starts with one opportunity. Investment in entrepreneurship, enterprise development, agricultural development, skills training, and local economic development are foundational to long-term financial resilience.
Environmental degradation and climate risks continue to threaten both ecosystems and community livelihoods. We support investment in initiatives that protect natural resources, promote biodiversity, and improve climate resilience. Targeting these areas reduces vulnerability to environmental shocks and creates pathways to employment and entrepreneurship in the green economy.
Through publications and case studies. Tshikululu shares insights that shape the future of social investment. Our research and industry dialogues position us, and our partners, at the forefront of serious social investing.
